I finished up another major change in the back end of the software and now I can easily add more games. With this upgrade completed, I have added entries for:

Grind
Battlefield Evolution
Battlestar Galactica
War of the Ring by GW
Warhammer Invasion by FFG

Expect other new games to be added even quicker.

I have been rolling out some features to the Army Showcase over the past few months. Most of these upgrades have been behind the scenes, but the latest is quite visible. Any Non-Rounded Corner component can be given a background image. This works great for generating gradients on components.

I'm working on rolling this feature out to rounded corner components, but I'll need to do some redesign of how colors are assigned to rounded corners first.

As I am typing this, I have just performed a major upgrade to the page editing engine of the Army Showcase. The project, called ThunderHawk, after the triple Gauss Rifle Battlemech, completely revolutionizes how you edit the layout of your Army Showcase pages. Look for a full tutorial coming soon.

If you need your army list on the go, The Army Showcase can now help you out. I recently added a mobile portion of the site to access any of the army lists which have been added in the past year. All new lists automatically get added to this database as well. To access the database, simply go to :
www.tabletopbattlefield.com/mobile

Or, if you just want to see your the lists for a specific army, then just add a m@ before the page link to see just those lists.

This mobile section of the site has been tested on the Palm Pre, the iPhone, and the Blackberry Curve.

I have made a few changes to the underlying code and browsing the Army Showcase is now fully supported under the WebOS browser which ships with the Palm Pre.

I guess the polite thing to do is make sure everything works with the iPhone 3.0 software.

Getting around to testing out the Android Browser would probably be a good thing as well.

As for the BlackBerry Browser...maybe some day I will create a mobile version of the site.....

I have begun the work on ensuring that Firefox 3.5 and the WebOS Browser[Found on the Palm Pre] render Army Showcase pages correctly.

Firefox 3.5 should probably already work since I do most of my testing on Firefox 3. I would just like to do a few tests in order to confirm this.

Since I recently purchase a Palm Pre, making the Army Showcase work on its browser would be a nice feature. Currently pages render pretty good, but there are issues with popping up images. I also don't recommend editing on mobile browsers.

For the past couple of episodes of the Tabletop Battlefield, I have been holding a contest to pick the next game we will review on the show. With the votes counted, Blood Bowl by Games Workshop has taken the top spot. Look for a full review of this game in a few episodes.

It turns on the new WARMACHINE Faction is called The Retribution of Scyrah, not the Retribution of Ios......Now I am curious as to why Retribution of Ios appeared in the legal text of the MKII Cards....

Privateer Press has announced a release date for the fifth faction of WARMACHINE. While the name has not been officially announced, the faction will almost be certainly called the "Retribution of Ios". Check out the bottom of any of the MK II field test stat cards and you will see that a "Retribution of Ios" joins the trademark list alongside the existing factions.

Last year on the Tabletop Battlefield, we discussed a custom game I was working on called Master of Planets. After begin distracted with other projects, the game is closer to being released. I recently began play testing and today I posted the concept art of the first wave of ships.

Privateer Press has announced that the public field test of WARMACHINE MK II rules will begin on April 6th 2009. All the test documents will be downloadable from their new site:

Exactly what will be in the new rules kit is unknown at this time.

It appears that my server suffered a glitch in the past few days which caused the loss of several files. Some of the affected files include the video files of the most recent Tabletop Battlefield. I believe that the issue was caused by the company which manages my hosting because the files that were removed existed in separate and independent code projects.

The issue should be resolved by tonight.

Aside from the Podcast, it appears that the only other data affected belonged to my Heroscape Army. I have since re-uploaded all the missing content. While the exact cause is still under investigation, the problem has been resolved.

So I was looking at the schedule for the Tabletop Battlefield in 2009 and I noticed that there are a few empty spots for dedicated review episodes. Normally, I like to do four or five dedicated review episodes in a year. In 2009, We have already done our WOW Minis review and in March or April we will be taking on Starcraft Brood War.

That leaves at least two open spots, so I wanted to see what the community wanted us to review. I received a request to review War of the Ring a while back, so that one is being considered. Personally, I want to give Heavy Gear by Dream Pod 9 a try out. Last year Fantasy Flight Games released Mutant Chronicles, so that is also a front runner. Battleground Fantasy Warfare also looks to have some unique ideas.
