Due to radical changes sweeping both the Bannson Raiders and Steel Wolves, large portions of the factions have splintered and gone independent. Both of these separated divisions are in need of supplies and the possibility of capturing a Word of Blake base was too much to pass up. [This battle was fought with alternate rules which dramatically alter the game play of MW:AOD]
Our forces deployed with a two prong attack plan. A support building provided excellent cover for our infantry's approach. A single M1 kill box would provide cover for the advancing infantry and when ordered, it would target the nuclear plant. The rest of the heavy guns would take up position in front of the plant and form a corridor of death for the advancing Steel Wolves.
Two heavy squads of infantry flew aboard a crane to enter the plant quickly. A squad of Kage battle armor soon joined the heavy infantry inside the plant. All begin the work of hacking into the Word of Blake base. Superior numbers of infantry inside the base gave our forces a significant advantage.
Not long after the infantry assault began, the second phase of our plan fell into place. Our Vulture stood guard along with two regulators and a M1 Kill Box. These forces guarded the pass through which most of the Steel Wolf forces would have to pass. Knowing the amount of firepower they were facing, I didn't think Steel Wolf forces would attack, but a single Clan Warrior rose to the challenge.
I understand clan warriors see great honor in engaging multiple enemies, but taking on four at once just seems stupid. The Black Hawk took a long range shot at the vulture and missed. The Black Hawk was too tempting of a target. The nearby M1 Kill Box attacked and planted a massive shot into the enemy Mech!
In attempt to come to the rescue of the Black Hawk, a Koshi engaged the Kill Box and eradicated its escorting infantry with anti-personal ammunition. The M1 itself managed to limp away, but the Koshi soon discovered its careless move as the Vulture unloaded all of its weapons into the light Mech. In desperation, the Koshi charged the Vulture, but failed to inflict any damage. Shortly later, another burst from the Vulture's Lasers brought the Koshi to the ground. With heroism , the Regulator's charged the crippled Black Hawk. Each drove a rail slug into the Mech and it succumbed to the force of gravity and collapsed, never to get up again.
By this time, An M1 and regulator had fallen to enemy fire, but not before destroying both of the opposing Battlemechs. Inside the plant, our infantry hacked into the Word of the Blake base. All remaining heavy guns attacked and destroyed the nuclear plant to keep the Wolves from getting a portion of the prize. Out gunned and out numbered, the wounded wolves had no choice but to retreat.
This battle may be won, but I do not think we have seen the last of the Wolves. We may have bloodied them, but they are still hungry and still on the hunt!
