I took a trip down to my local game store and picked up a copy of the Solaris VII medium action pack. I have got to play a few games with it and well, I want to get some more time in with it before I give it a full review. Look for the review on an upcoming episode of the Tabletop Battlefield.
If you did not know, the medium action pack comes with six mechs, six pilots, and six gear cards. See the list to the right for details.
Unlike Age of Destruction, Solaris VII is played on a hex grid and has the feel of CBT light with its different phases to the turn. Though the translation from miniature game to hex game creates a few quirks, the relatively small battles will keep the game moving quick.
The limited amount of maps may not help the diversity of game play, but the rules are quite expandable. The rules only cover combat and therefore do not have a career mode. One on one combat will get old quick, but user created custom scenarios will keep the game interesting.
